The choir was founded by composer, Franco Prinsloo, with a focus on quality recordings and performances of his own music, as well as a selection of music by other Pretoria based composers. He also conducts the choir. They have recorded two collections of music by composers: Franco Prinsloo, Zander Fick and Pieter Bezuidenhout, “South African Choral Music Collection Vol. 1 and Vol. 2”. The latest album released in 2019 is "Speak to me", available on streaming platforms world wide.
In 2019 a new recording will be released: “Naledi - An African Journey” featuring music of the choral musical with the same name. "Naledi: An African Journey" was commissioned by Lhente-Mari Pitout for the University of Pretoria Youth Choir to celebrate and explore the unique and diverse choral music heritage of South Africa. This fusion of choral traditions features unique South African Folklore and celebrates all 11 official languages of this diverse country. The singers of Vox Chamber Choir are huge choral enthusiasts and comprises of choral conductors, composers, music educators and semi-professional singers. We strive to promote South African contemporary choral music throughout the world and seek to inspire with our unique focus on music by living composers and the music of their conductor, Franco Prinsloo. less
