A Concert of Hope - A gala fundraiser for London’s homeless arts programs

  • The London premiere of Street Requiem - for those who have died on the street, by Kathleen McGuire, Andy Payne and Jonathon Welch, will take place at 8pm, Friday September 28th at the Central Hall in Westminster.

A gala fundraiser for London’s homeless arts programs, A Concert of Hope is headlined by David Shannon, west end star of Matilda, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, The Highland Divas from the US, the Choir With No Name and will be the premiere performance of the iconic Street Requiem.

Awarded a special citation by the prestigious American Prize as 'dignifying the homeless’, Street Requiem is a 45 minute cantata, in a contemporary setting of the traditional sung requiem with additional English, African and Arabic lyrics and a modern setting of the Latin text.

Incredibly moving, reflective, powerful and profound, Street Requiem aims to bring a sense of peace, remembrance and hope too many communities struggling to come to terms with street violence and a loss of safety on our streets – to give these souls a beautiful, resonant voice within our community and a place of remembrance.  It has been performed in Australia, Europe and the United States to international acclaim, this tour has also included premiere performances in Edinburgh and Manchester.

Local choirs Battersea Choral Society and the Teddington Choral Society will join The Sing The World choir, with choristers from Australia and the US in this performance, which will be conducted by Jonathon Welch AM (Australian of the Year Local Hero 2008, Choir of Hard Knocks).  All proceeds from this concert will benefit London charities for the homeless including Streetwise Opera.

Your heart will be moved.  Your soul will sing!  You will never forget being present at this concert!  Tickets are from just £15 and are now on sale. Please book at https://www.teddingtonchoral.co.uk/
