The Jamaica Youth Chorale To (Finally) Launch Album!

  • November 22!!!

Having returned from our successful tour to Wales (UK), earlier this summer, will be staging an event to launch our first Album this month.

The Album titled Behold the Star will be launched on November 22 at 5pm atthe University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, Chapel and will feature the JYC in concert. The concert and album will include the works of Jamaican composers and arrangers such as Dr. Noel Dexter, OD; Clyde Hoyte and Dr. Kathy Brown as well as other notable composers.

Director, Greg Simms says, “This is just another way of ensuring that the JYC contributes to a strong legacy and high standard in Jamaican choral performance and composition; and this will surely add even more beauty to the most wonderful time of the year.  It is also good to have young people involved in a project like this.”

Behold the Star will be released globally via various online platforms on November 22 while limited CDs will be available at the launch and at selected outlets island-wide.

Tickets are available and can be purchased at Monarch Pharmacy (Barbican Centre) and Chesterville Pharmacy (Winchester Business Centre, HWT). General Admission for the concert is only $800 while the Souvenir Experience, which is the concert and CD, cost $2000.

The Jamaica Youth Chorale is a movement of young people from across the island who are committed to positively impacting the lives and spirit of our audiences through music and imagination.  The JYC is a Jamaican choir of international acclaim having been recently featured on the BBC and at the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod and other media programmes such as Caribbean Passport and Magazine
