Our new conductor: Charlotte Botha

  • Singkronies Chamber Choir is extremely happy to welcome our new conductor, Charlotte Botha into our midst. Rehearsals are under way for our first project together: "Bernstein, Barber & Beatles", for which performances will take place at the end of November.

Here is some more info about Charlotte:

Charlotte Botha is one of the youngest conductors in Pretoria's vibrant choral community. She believes that choral singing should be fuelled by love, energy, humour, healthy technique and efficient hard work.

Charlotte, a voice builder, singer, aural training lecturer, arranger and song-writer, grew up in Klerksdorp, where she started building her music career in piano, percussion and singing. She has been a member and soloist for numerous prestigious choirs, including the National Youth Choir of South Africa, Tuks Camerata, Cantinovum Chamber Choir (Finland), Akustika Chamber Singers and the World Youth Choir.

In 2009 she received her BMus degree from the University of Pretoria (cum laude) and will complete her MMus in Choral Conducting Performance under the supervision of Junita van Dijk and Peter-Louis van Dijk in June 2013. Although Charlotte has won numerous awards as a song-writer, film composer and singer, her main focus is on choral conducting; specialising in healthy choral sound.

She currently conducts the Pretoria High School for Girls choirs, Hoërskool Oos-Moot choir and since September 2012, Singkronies Chamber Choir.

What a talented woman! We are truly blessed to have her as our new conductor, and wish her all the best of luck for this first project together.
