About Us: Norwich's Phoenix Male Voice Choir, based in the heart of Lord Nelson's County of Norfolk, is a friendly, enthusiastic, community group of around 30 men (plus Sarah Grimes, our talented lady Musical Director!) who meet regularly to enjoy practising our re... moreNorwich's Phoenix Male Voice Choir, based in the heart of Lord Nelson's County of Norfolk, is a friendly, enthusiastic, community group of around 30 men (plus Sarah Grimes, our talented lady Musical Director!) who meet regularly to enjoy practising our repertoire and rehearsing for performances. We uphold the tradition and art of male choral singing through the camaraderie of choral membership and in entertaining our audiences.
We give our own concerts several times a year in Norwich and beyond, as well as appear at events by invitation. We were Special Guests of 'The People's Soprano' Rebecca Newman at her 2012 and Spring 2016 tour Norwich appearances and we put up a team to challenge the Eggheads for quiz supremacy!
We also hold Open Rehearsals at the beginning of each singing season when we invite adult gentlemen to see whether male choral singing is for them, or just to see our singing men at work!
Our concert items feature traditional male voice choir standards, well-known ballads, sacred, secular and seasonal, showsongs, the Great American Song Book and extended features, musical fantasies and classics. As well as full choir pieces, concerts often include a variety of individual and group contributions from among our own enthusiastic membership.
