In collaboration with the Kennedy Center, Classical Movements is proud to announce a joint partnership celebrating the centennial of President Kennedy’s birth with a grand choral celebration of Kennedy’s legacy by inviting choirs from countries that have benefited from the work of the Peace Corps, as well as select choirs from the U.S. and abroad. Classical Movements, as part of its Eric Daniel Helms New Music Program, will commission composers from these visiting choirs’ countries to create new choral works in the spirit of President Kennedy’s legacy promoting international peace and diplomacy. This celebration will be incorporated within the Serenade! Washington Choral Festival which is scheduled for June 27-July 4th (with daily performances at the Kennedy Center June 28-July 3).
Choirs must submit their application by June 1, 2016 to be consider for this event and a selection process will follow.

The Ihlombe! South African Choral Festival offers a one of a kind choral experience in dynamic settings including Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Soweto as well as a Scenic Game Park. Your choir will have the opportunity to perform with many excellent International and South African Choirs, as well as participate in workshops with famous Choral Conductors. Collaborate with multiple choirs in extraordinary venues and diverse and sizeable audiences. You will experience African drumming, dancing, and their wonderful, unique singing. This festival includes adult choirs, university choirs, as well as children’s and youth choirs, and all choirs have the opportunity to perform in several concerts, each conducted by their own music director. Each concert concludes with a joint choral selection sung by all participating choirs.
