International Honor Choir – Celebrating the legacy of Zoltán Kodály


  • meeting music is excited to announce the First International Honor Choirs in Budapest directed by Artistic Directors Henry Leck, USA, and Gábor Hollerung, Hungary.

     

     

    The INTERNATIONAL HONOR CHOIRS will perform as part of the OAKE-Recommended choral festival, Laurea Mundi Budapest, July 9-13, 2016. 

     

    Laurea Mundi Budapest provides opportunity for singers from around the world to sing together in one of the most stunning music halls in Budapest, the Palace of Arts.  The International Honor Choirs are open to choirs and individual singers qualified by conductor endorsement.  Artistic Directors Henry Leck, Treble Choir, and Gábor Hollerung, Mixed Choir, will conduct a program celebrating the legacy of Zoltán Kodály which will premiere a new Hungarian composition.  


    Henry Leck – Treble International Honor Choir Conductor

    An internationally acclaimed, Kodály-certified choral director and professor emeritus of choral activities at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1986 he became founder and artistic director of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, one of the largest children’s choir programs in the world.


    Gábor Hollerung – Mixed International Honor Choir Conductor

    Hollerung is a Liszt-prize winning conductor who directs the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra, the Budapest Academic Choral Society, and is founder of the Budapest International Choir Competition. With meeting music he serves as artistic director for many prestigious international choir festivals, and was a founding director of the World Choir Games.
