We would like to share with you a live recording of the first performance of a new choral work "The Light Vessel" by international musician and composer Trevor Watts, words by Kay Syrad. This work was commissioned by Mary Hooper & ELise Liversedge as part of the development of a new art work called LAST STATION, located and dislocated that takes its inspiration from the history of the manned light vessels around the UK from 1732 -1989. We hope to publish the work this year and invite other choirs to perform it as part of a touring programme. The work was sung by Harwich Sing Community Choir under their director Clare Leach as part of their Chrismas concert on December 7th, 2013 in St. Nicholas CHurch in Harwich Essex.
This was the most complex work they have performed since they started only 2 years ago and a big challenge. The performance was very moving and they will work with Trevor to perform the piece again later this year. We also hope it will be sung at a celebratory concert in St. Paul's Cathedral as part of Trinity House 500 year anniversary commemorative events.

It is a many layered and lyrical choral work that celebrates the work of the Light Vessel Crews, creating a soundscape in 5 movements that rises and falls in constant motion, broken by a rap - like repetitive chorus in the middle section working back into the rhythms and moods of the sea.
