Exciting Year for Singing

  •

The Hutt Valley Singers have been busily preparing a full and exciting year of singing for 2015, starting off with a performance of Karl Jenkins ‘The Armed Man’ with the Upper Hutt Brass Band and the Wainuiomata Choir. This popular work is being performed on Anzac weekend to remember those who have served our country on the 100th Anniversary of Anzac day.

In addition, this year they also have planned a Mother’s Day Concert with their friends the Major Minors Children’s Choir, a ‘Music from the Movies’ concert, assisting a local church with their fundraising concert, along with many other performances and the possibility of an out of town trip to the Wairarapa to sing. Musical Director, Joanne Roelofs, says ‘we are thrilled to have so many performance opportunities for the choir this year, with such a large variety of fun music!’

The four-part, non-auditioned community choir has members from around the Hutt Valley but bases itself in Upper Hutt for rehearsals – new members are always welcome and encouraged to come and visit a rehearsal to hear the choir in action. We rehearse on Monday nights, from 7-9pm at the Pettit Centre, next to Our Lady of Grace Church on the corner of Fergusson Drive and Palmer Crescent, Upper Hutt, New Zealand. Rehearsals begin on Monday 26th January.
