Hand In Hand - celebrate the true spirit of Christmas with songs of Courage, Joy and Love

  • Be inspired and make a real difference at Hand In Hand, Melbourne Town Hall, Saturday 10th December, 3pm

Do you long to listen to beautiful arias from your favourite operas, groove to gospel and swoon to classics that you know and love?  Do you want to celebrate this Christmas just a little bit differently?

Conducted and compered by the Founding Artistic Director of the School of Hard Knocks, Dr Jonathon Welch AM, the concert will also feature two of Australia’s great legends of opera, Liane Keegan and John Bolton Wood AM, both well known and loved by Melbourne audiences.

Jonathon explained “Liane and John are good friends and supporters of the School, Hand In Hand will also feature XL ARTS, the Hallelujah Gospel Chorus, conducted by Dr Kathleen McGuire, THECHO!R and the massed ‘Absolutely Everybody’ choirs and the Footscray Yarraville City Band, conducted by Phillipa Edwards!”

“It will be a spectacular concert with our wonderful performers and inspirational, uplifting and favourite gospel, opera and popular classics” Jonathon exclaimed with a smile. “We would love to see everyone at Hand In Hand!  Christmas is such a very special time of year and we also want to thank everyone for their support and for sharing our dreams for the School throughout the year.  It’s time to celebrate!!”

“It's been just a huge year for everybody at the School of Hard Knocks and we are so very proud of our achievements and all our programs, which support the marginalised and vulnerable in our community.  We are also hoping, through this concert, to raise funds for our new women’s and men’s choir programs, No Excuses! and Men Aloud! singing out against family violence!” Jonathon explained.
